@meano95@ScotlandSky@SkyFootball That’s the point, if punched or if arm was away from his body the path of the ball would be materially different to if his arm wasn’t there - but it wasn’t. The possible mitigation in the rules that VAR didn’t mention - given Trusty’s rising shoulder, where else could his arm go?
@King7Henrik@TEnglishSport It’s a debate rather than a certainty either way and that’s the whole point. There is no definite
It likely hit both arm & head so I understand why it was given but the desperation of VAR saying it “definitely hit his arm” and the ref not even asking for angles is astonishing
@King7Henrik@TEnglishSport You seem much more certain than I am. My understanding of the laws of physics cannot explain the missing part of the ball if it is on his sleeve like you claim - unless the ball was very deflated?
I’ll go to specsavers if you look up Messrs Dunning & Kruger
@King7Henrik@TEnglishSport Wrist looks all present and correct here, agree a fold of his sleeve not visible. No way of looking behind the arm to see if ball is on that fold.
It’s inconclusive, can’t say from this image (or any angle) definitely didn’t hit his arm - but also can’t say it definitely did
@Schmuley_Schlo@JamboRyan1874 Please draw the rest of the curve of the ball on this image and then tell me again it’s clear that the ball is on and not behind his arm
@JamboRyan1874 It’s all ok, he checked the throw in with a view that didn’t show the touchline but was already on the comms to the ref saying it was a penalty
@TEnglishSport There was no process:
- no discussion at all about possible mitigation for arm position or silhouette
- checked the throw in with a view that didn’t show the touchline
- ref didn’t ask for other angles
@ScotlandSky Collum dismisses the KMI verdict whilst also saying their independence is important “so that we aren’t seen to mark our own homework”
At least he is consistent that the VAR team should be trusted by the ref - the inconsistency on field is what gifted the title to Celtic
@EwenDCameron The position of Ian Maxwell @ScottishFA is untenable if he doesn’t take action here. The whole world can see Celtic were gifted the title - either by corruption or incompetence
@SMMediaEnt Which is exactly why it doesn’t meet the threshold for a VAR intervention over the referee who had a better view of the incident than that grainy video that literally nobody can agree what it shows or proves
@martybhoym11@scotsunsport Evens out over the season until it doesn’t. I was willing to shrug off the errors in our game with Motherwell but I don’t think any Hearts fan will ever forget or forgive that 99th minute intervention that 100% changed the destination of the title - now confirmed error
