For all the shit the Leafs’ core deservedly got for their playoff failures, they at least made the playoffs 9 years in a row.
The Senators have missed the playoffs 6 times and are now 2-8 in the postseason during the Brady Tkachuk era, over the last 8 years.
Say what you want about Dubas and Keefe, but at least they were aligned on a plan and forward-thinking style of play. The Treliving-Berube era was a disaster. The team got outplayed on a nightly basis, had no plan, and there was a constant disconnect. Good riddance.
Keith Pelley needs more time. Leafs are playing at an 89-point pace after 58 games and get outshot every night. But let’s be patient. Still a chance this might be a serious team. Get those future first round picks ready in the holster to unload for bottom of the roster grit.
Mitch Marner with absolutely no clutch gene as a Leaf in his playoff career, but puts on the Canada jersey, and becomes Jesus on skates in the biggest moments.
Very cool of the Jays to miss out on the best player on the market and the best pure hitter on the market, who happens to be a homegrown star. Time to go watch more Kazuma Okamoto YouTube highlights.
How can anyone enjoy watching this Leafs team? The 5v5 numbers are terrible. The power play is an embarrassment. And the team’s $13.25 million superstar is now a 65-point checking centre. There has also never been an ounce of transparency about his health status.
Nice of the Leafs to avoid embarrassment for once and not lose to the Blackhawks without Bedard. But let’s not get it twisted. This isn’t close to a serious team.
