@Twittter_Suks@FootyonNine@CalTwomey Melb players were surprised last yr when Goodwin was sacked (he was a premiership coach who’d won 6 games at that point) so obv they weren’t consulted
There were caveats attached to Welsh’s support for Scott that seem to have been hidden/missed/forgotten by the media & people
@SilentGhost263 I didn’t say you’re dumb, you’ve made that inclination. I’m saying that you should make assumptions as to why he was sacked, like you have in other areas. but you don’t want to make that effort.
@SilentGhost263 Like here
“and yet the move was made in favour of those responsible for the lack of spirit instead of those trying to turn it on its head.
this plays right into the listless senior groups attitude and pushes down on the group trying to effect change.”
@SilentGhost263 Of course there’s long-term.
They said it multiple times while he was there. They know how they want to go about it. but in the end, they made an evaluation that he wasn’t the person who could get them there.
@SilentGhost263 You seriously don’t know why they made the decision to sack him now? Welsh said his/their reason why it was done now. you can’t think of the other reasons as to why they did without them factually saying it?…
@SilentGhost263 You think the spirit is just based on the five days that have just happened, I certainly don’t. I base much much more of it on the years before that.
@SilentGhost263 You’re only looking short-term. His sacking isn’t based on short term. You’ve made a judgement on 5 days, but not on the ~3 & 1/2 years that have come before…
@SilentGhost263 No, I don’t expect it to have improved five days later, but I expect it to have improved come round 1 next year, and round 11 next year.
@SilentGhost263 Again, you’re concentrating on individuals, not as a whole team. While you may think those players have played well enough as individuals, they didn’t together as part of a team. They (& you) cannot be content enough with how they’ve been or more importantly, with their teammates
@SilentGhost263 You’re judging individuals rather than as a whole. Forget the Monday to Thursday, he couldn’t get them together as a group to perform on game day, as one.
You’re saying all up, he should still be coaching?
@SilentGhost263 What would the players say that would change the board’s mind? While they could’ve been consulted, their opinion shouldn’t be the defining factor. How was the ‘spirit’ while he was there…
@SilentGhost263 Just because you hear there are some concerned doesn’t mean the others are unconcerned.
Of course they’re going to say performance is on them. Have we ever heard, or will we ever hear a player say the opposite. Media training.
@SilentGhost263 Then they don’t hold themselves & the team to a high enough standard. Of course they’d be disappointed in him being sacked, and probably how it happened on the day, but they need to take responsibility on performance as well (ex Nic this yr). They didn’t hold up their end
@EmlynBreese Passes the eye test. Considering how much ball Essendon gets in its front half & that over 50% of his possessions are won contested (like most poor teams forwards) ✅
@pauljames1968@JamesLowrie24 Problem isn’t laying effective tackles at stoppages, it’s around the ground. No team applies less post clearance. Some are less than last yr like Duursma & Roberts, some not enough like Reid, Redman, McGrath, Perkins, Tsatas & Parish for their roles/positions vs the competition
