Just a tip, @lowes - When you have had me on hold for well over an hour and a half, maybe ease up with the "we're working to answer your call as quickly as possible" recording every 45 seconds. After the literal 100th time it plays, some of the magic is gone.
🕯Queer Communion🕯 Its a huge honour for me to be hosting @Ron_Athey_2- one of the leading figures in live art and body ritual, to discuss the role of ritual within his performance practice. Join us for our last Light Source online talk 27th May 7pm GMT. #performanceart#bodyart
State offices are closed in Alabama today for Confederate Memorial Day, and this (from 2019) is a reminder of what the Confederacy stood for. https://t.co/M4bqpkEbez
Today is Confederate Memorial Day, which is still a state holiday in Alabama. I know what you might be thinking, but the Confederacy is worth remembering and we should reflect on how it's still with us today. 🧵
@ashtonpittman I'm just left wondering how differently the reply chorus would be reacting if any of them evidenced even a basic understanding of free speech, the U.S. Constitution, or, you know, history (any history, really).
@WbtphdjdTurner Yup, those institutions - now hmu one single election cycle later and we can compare notes. I will be simply fucking ecstatic if i will have been wrong.
Proposition: Most of us are in no way whatsoever prepared for how bad this - you know, politics & society & violence & the world - is gonna get or how quickly our precious firebreaks and vaunted institutions will collapse under the challenge of having to function as intended.
This one is a mixed bag. While it is true that @RepAndyHarrisMD needs to limit himself to mis-managing his own unfortunate constituents, he is also almost singlehandedly responsible for how easy it is to get pot in DC & Maryland.
Just remember to send him a thank u note on 4/20.
Periodic reminder that @RepAndyHarrisMD, by sticking his grubby fingers into DC public policy (for clout, bc he was bored, maybe he lost a bet, who knows), hamstrung local governance & ensured that unregulated pot would proliferate throughout the District.
Another aside: This entire debate is happening because D.C. *cannot* legalize retail sales of marijuana, even though pretty much every elected official wants to. And that's because of Congress, specifically @RepAndyHarrisMD.
