I know it’s harder to raise money in summer Bc investors are on vacation. That’ll probably be extra true this summer Bc first post-covid post-vax vacation time. Hoping to close my round next week thoooo wish me luck!
I have a 40-60% success rate of surgeons actually showing up to our prearranged meetings 😭😭 it’s aight tho it’s always because they are literally saving lives ! A good excuse
a mentor in a 501c3 incubator (60yo) kept pushing for equity and I politely said I wait 6 months before giving advisory options and he FLIPPED SHIT. he wanted to be CEO not an advisor & he yelled for 45 min “you will fail without me! You need me!” Don’t be that guy yall :/ awk!
It’s so fun to jump from hardware R&D (sawdust flying, circuit boards) to a physician meeting to an investor call to a lawyer call. I love my job! 💖
My friends+family description of me is diametrically polarized between
“she’s the most successful person I KNOW. She’s CEO! She’s venture backed!”
and
“Yeah she doesn’t like, really have a job. Doesn’t like REALLy live anywhere.”
I always got the “you’re so cute Great job doing what you’re doing!! Two thumbs up yay!!” Until I started having my CTO (older, male) sit in meetings with me and just watch me talk LMAO
an angel and I reached a verbal & email agreement that he would invest $50K. We shook hands. Talked for hours about plans. Next day I email him the SAFE.
No word.
I follow up.
He responds: wife said no.
Hey that’s real 🤷🏼♀️ & also why I never trust it until $$$ hits the bank!
Started the day with 8 unread emails and 20 to do list items. Answered emails back and forth all day. Ended day with 12 unread emails and 23 to do list items.
I DID NEGATIVE WORK. ANTIMATTER WORK.
Monday mornings like these I miss when I was living on the east coast and working SF time: 12-8pm work day. I just gotta remind myself that actually working with the sun is good! Actually taking evenings off sometimes is great!
I know I was working 80 hr weeks all 2020 but since I’m so much further ahead now I’m like, what was I doing that whole time? What did I accomplish? I need to remember the huge learning curve involved that I’m not giving myself credit for! Also building a network! And data room!
