There’s a rape incident. There’s outrage demanding justice. There are marches for women’s safety. People in power highlight the issue for political gains.
The media gives it attention for a few weeks. And then what?

The outrage dies down. Life moves on.

And sexual violence continues, from a 3-year-old girl to a 60-year-old woman. No one is truly safe, whether at home or outside.

Despite stringent laws, perpetrators - whether strangers, relatives, friends or acquaintances continue to commit these crimes.

So perhaps the question isn’t simply - “When will this stop?”

The more uncomfortable question is - Why does this keep happening? Why is women’s safety never treated as a sustained priority? Why, after decades of laws, debates, protests and outrage, are women still the ones who bear the greatest burden of fear, restrictions and consequences?

Men face sexual violence too, and that must be acknowledged. But women continue to experience it on a scale that demands far more than temporary outrage.

We don’t need another news cycle that lasts a few weeks. We need to ask what is failing and why we keep accepting the same cycle.
