Everyone has heard by now about the far-left party, the direct successor of the East German communists, winning last Sunday’s Berlin elections. But do you also know their official program? Let’s take a look:

• Overcome capitalism via “democratic socialism”: nationalize energy, banks, infrastructure and housing firms

• Long-term legalization of all drugs

• Dissolve NATO, ban conscription

• Wealth tax: 1% from €1m, 5% from €50m, 12% from €1bn

• Top income tax rate of 75%

• Nationwide rent freeze/cap

• Sanction-free basic income for everyone

• Broad asylum, work from day one, regardless of legal status

I am not joking, that’s their official program. Can you imagine the consequences for German economy and society if even half of this gibberish was implemented?

By this standard, government subsidies don’t magically become “capitalism” depending on who receives them.

When government subsidizes industries socialists approve of, it’s called public investment or social policy. When it subsidizes corporations they dislike, suddenly it’s capitalism.

The contradiction gets worse: when socialists are prevented from taking someone else’s property, they recognize capitalism as the system protecting that property. When their own property is taken to subsidize someone they dislike, they blame capitalism for the violation.

Apparently capitalism is both respecting property rights and violating them, depending entirely on whether the socialist likes where the money went.

That isn’t a serious definition of an economic system.

Fun fact, under Britain’s original Mandate Palestine post WW1, 77% of the land was partitioned and given to the Arabs. That land was called…Jordan! And they specifically did not make a Palestinian state.

Then they conquered the West Bank after the war in 1948/49 and annexed it, but left the Palestinians as refugees and not Jordanian citizens. They also didn’t make a separate Palestinian state after the PLO was found in 1964.

Then, when they lost in 1967, they took Palestinians living in Jordan with Jordanian citizenship and REMOVED THEM from citizenship. Kicked them out!!

So, ya, King Abdullah II can f*ck right off.
