@texasgermanbre It’s again, not about where it’s cheaper to live. It’s about taxes.
The average german spends abou two thirds of their entire income on taxes when you include any and all taxes, on groceries, on gas, etc.
Almost 70% of my income goes straight into the government’s pocket.

The US import a lot of stuff that we in Germany can grow in our fields, so I can see produce being cheaper, but that doesn’t justify a 19% tax on stuff that btw already has been taxed during manufacturing and shipping to the store.

Like, americans consider 5 bucks a gallon expensive. When you convert from litres to gallons and from € to USD, In germany, you pay ~8,50 on the cheapest end, or up to 12 bucks on highways

For everything you buy.
Gas has a tax of over 60%.
Your income tax isn’t the only tax you ever pay in life.
