1. Wealth tax now, they can't leave as all their assets are in the UK
2. Okay some might leave but it won't be many
3. Thousands are leaving, hundreds of billions in capital is flying out the door. We need an Exit Tax now!
4. Okay, no new capital is coming in, the country is insolvent, famine is on the horizon but we have equality.
@ferafestiva23 You’ll see more of this and also a massive pickup in people working “cash in hand”. Tax drives behaviour which is something socialists never want to accept.
EasyJet is being bought out by a foreign rival. And it’s not a one-off; this is becoming a pattern with British companies right now.
So let’s be honest about why it’s happening.
Britain has become a brutally hard place to make money. The economy’s stagnated. Real wages are barely moving. And the government keeps finding new ways to squeeze tax out of businesses.
Take easyJet specifically. Higher national insurance charges. Gatwick airport fees up £40m in a year, passed straight on to airlines as landing fees. Air passenger duty up another £2 a ticket on short-haul in the last Budget.
Strip all that out and easyJet’s profits look very different. Different enough that it probably wouldn’t have been a takeover target in the first place.
And it’s not just easyJet. The UK stock market is moribund and over-regulated, which means genuinely good British businesses are undervalued compared to the rest of the world.
So what happens? Foreign buyers pick them off, one by one. And there’s nothing coming through to replace them.
This is what hollowing out a country’s economic base actually looks like.
@Trader__007 Used to really like Banus and spent a lot of time there as we used to have a boat on pier 1 just down from News Cafe many years ago.
The TikTok, instagram thing is everywhere these days!!!
On X we feel like we’ve thoroughly debunked wealth taxes. We’ve seen the experts rally together and explain clearly why it would be a total disaster for the UK.
Out in the real world, @garyseconomics is winning. About 75% of Brits are taken by the idea that we are just one more tax away from fixing the UK.
I say this with a heavy heart but I think we are genuinely toast. At this point the inevitable will have to happen - socialists take over, implement a wealth taxes, destroy what’s left of the economy and impoverish a generation.
The UK will be the next example of a nation that is crushed by socialist ideology. It will take 25+ years to recover from the damage. Gary will go down in history like Marx or Lenin but first he will be a national hero for a few years.
As much as we think we are winning the argument inside this bubble, I assure you we are not. The country is months away from wealth taxes and a subsequent economic collapse.
Socialism is the economic hot stove that countries seem to have to touch for themselves.
LondonMetric’s reported occupancy ticking up to 98.3% from 97.7% so far this year, and they’ve also highlighted progress on the proposed Picton takeover. #LMP
You can only change what’s in your actual control, which at the moment sadly is to do the same as David: change countries and turn UK clown politics off.
I do still think it’s worth voicing your opinions, if only to try and balance against the lefties and to encourage more common sense, though.
Jet2 announced today another £250 million share buyback, and their summer sales are running about 7.7% ahead of last year.
They’re putting that down to easing geopolitical concerns, which has picked up booking momentum recently, helped along by some targeted pricing.
Load factors are also slightly up year-on-year, so they’re filling a bit more of their seats compared to last summer.

The top 1% of earners pay around 29/30% of all UK income tax
The top 0.1% (one in a thousand) pay around 10% of all Income Tax and pay more income tax than 50% of the working population
Were they to leave we’d have a big big problem
🚨BREAKING: UK GOVERNMENT TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUTUBE ALGORITHM
This is pure authoritarianism
Keir Starmer's/Andy Burnham's Government is set to control the YouTube algorithm by LAW stipulating that they must push "APPROVED CONTENT" to UK Citizens
And independent voices who criticise the government will be pushed to the back of the queue making it harder for people to find
YouTube has acknowledged this is happening
This must be stopped
Buy a UK share, pay 0.5% stamp duty.
Buy a US share, pay zero. This is a tax on backing UK companies and a direct drag on UK investment and growth.
The more you tax something the less you get.
