In an interview with Al Mayadeen on Thursday, Professor Mohammad Marandi commented on reports of Russian and Chinese help to Iran in the war, saying that Iran’s defense and strike capabilities are overwhelmingly indigenous.

He contrasted the limited scope of any potential foreign cooperation with the massive, direct military and logistical support the United States continuously extends to its regional proxies.

According to Marandi, attempts by Washington officials to frame Iran’s operational effectiveness around external assistance serve primarily as a pretext to obscure policy failures and avoid acknowledging Iran's self-reliant military capabilities on the ground.

Greetings. This comment, made during airstrikes against Iran, is not about the wonderful people of Pakistan - whom I have frequently praised in interviews with Pakistani journalists - nor is it derogatory toward anyone, unlike the language used by those who attack me. The affiliations of many of these attackers are clear: they are individuals who have traditionally aligned themselves with US allies in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and who routinely insult Iran. Yet governments across the region hold a view of Trump that diverges sharply from Iran's. When our children and leaders were attacked and killed with the help of neighboring countries in the Persian Gulf, most regional governments offered no condemnation. Despite the ongoing genocide in Gaza, many of these same governments - even while condemning the Zionist regime - openly call Trump and the US regime friends. When Yemen stood with Gaza, most governments did not support Yemen, owing to the influence of the Saudi and UAE regimes. This is not something any regional leader would deny or conceal; these are open policies. The Iranian government, in contrast, sees Trump as an irredeemable evil enemy who must be defeated, and considers any conciliatory behavior from the Iranian state as unjustified. These differing state-level perspectives, however, say nothing about the views of the people themselves, nor do they reflect the realities of state-to-state relations. The empire seeks to divide us. It will fail.

Those who try to equate certain regional governments with their peoples are either on those regimes' payroll or remarkably naive. Do the people of the region support the Saudi, Kuwaiti, Emirati, Bahraini, and Qatari murderous role in the Epstein Coalition's aggression against Iran? Do they back the Saudi airstrikes on civilian infrastructure and the Saudi-led siege against Yemen - a country that defeated Trump in war and fought for Gaza while these countries were silent or complicit? To claim that criticism of Western-aligned governments equates to hostility toward their peoples is an utterly disingenuous bid to justify and advocate for further subordination to the West by clouding the waters.

BREAKING: The Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) fell -3.8 million barrels last week, to 308 million barrels, the lowest since March 1983.

This marks the 18th consecutive weekly decline, the longest since 2023, per Zerohedge.

During this period, US oil reserves in the SPR have fallen -108 million barrels, or -26%.

Meanwhile, commercial crude oil stocks excluding the SPR dropped -7.2 million barrels, to 405 million barrels, the lowest since October 2018.

This is also ~7% below the 5-year average for this time of the year.

America's oil buffer is evaporating.
