📲 Online GP consultation forms: easier first steps… but not for everyone.
For many of us living with anxiety or depression, asking for help can feel like the hardest part.
This new blog by Dr Charlotte Archer (University of Bristol) explores how online GP forms can both open doors and create new barriers.
🧠 What the study found:
✍️ Online forms can give people space to think and put difficult feelings into words
🤐 But some hold back, unsure who will read their answers or how their information is handled
😵💫 Symptoms e.g. low motivation, poor concentration & overwhelm can make form‑filling harder
⚠️ Practitioners worry about missing risk when very little is written, and about losing continuity of care
💡 Key message: choice matters.
Online tools can help many of us take that first step, especially if phone calls feel impossible – but they should be one option, not the only route to support.
