Lily, a pupil and advocate in our #PowerOfAT documentary series, shares how #AssistiveTechnology has transformed her perception of her own abilities. ๐กDespite all the benefits that AT brings many children are left behind in education in the UK. It's time we change that ๐
Meet Archie! ๐ Archie shared during the #PowerOfAT filming, 'Nobody understood why I couldn't do things...then I got my cochlear implants. I've seen a massive jump in my grades! ๐ Hear more of Archie's experiences at the link in our bio! #AssistiveTech#EducationForAll

@AXSChat We have a right to be seen, to be heard, to access education, employment and to be a part of our communities. Our schools, our teachers, our employers, our policy-makers need to better understand there is a legal obligation. @AXSChat
@AXSChat By being seen. AT enables disabled and older people to be present in communities - we need to be seen, to be recognised as having a rightful place. AT is about inclusion but if our environments and attitudes are not open and accessible we remain excluded #AXSChat
@AXSChat AI has tremendous possibilities for disabled people but we, all humans, struggle to keep up with the pace of technological change. For a disabled person, it can be even tougher. Education and awareness will be key both for tech companies and the disabled community #AXSChat
@NeilMilliken@AXSChat@BATAOnline It's so needed - we have evidence through our work but having high quality data is needed. E.g often I've seen technology be more successful when it's designed with a more appealing aesthetic, particularly when it comes to children. #AXSChat
@AXSChat Our systems need to encourage collaboration and competition. Driving costs down happens when technology scales - supporting innovators to reach those that could benefit from their solutions, as well as the other skills needed to success commercially are critical #AXSChat.
@AXSChat Again, this is complex but increasing demand, is necessary - disabled people need to have access to the right information, feel empowered to advocate for access to affordable and appropriate products and services. #AXSChat
@AXSChat Fostering collaboration is a key priority for @BATAonline - we don't have all the answers. Most of us are compelled to work in this space because we believe that AT makes a difference - our values unite us. Working together makes us stronger #AXSChat
@AXSChat Breaking of silos and prioritising partnerships outside our specific sphere of knowledge. We need to be more deliberate, more conscious, about the benefits of pursuing collaborations with friends from other sectors - and there are many. #AXSChat
@AXSChat Disabled people also need to feel empowered to be louder about their experiences โ and when we are โ we need to be listened to. Provide us accessible methods of complaint or feedback. #AXSChat
@AXSChat Ideally weโd have more disabled people in positions where they can lead with their knowledge, expertise and expertise. We need more disabled engineers, innovators, designers & academics #AXSChat
@NeilMilliken@AXSChat@BATAOnline Absolutely, we don't we know enough about disabled people and the relationship with AT - more research, better data and continued curiosity about how to find answers to the real challenges that disabled people face #AXSChat
