The University of Buea, ranked earlier this year as Cameroon's best university, began its three-day graduation event this Thursday, by awarding Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees to 2,564 students from five of its 12 establishments.

The institution will be graduating 4,800 students this year in a ceremony that rounds off on Saturday with students of the Faculty of Health Sciences, one of the university's specialized establishments.

The establishments that graduated today included the Advanced School of Translators and Interpreters (ASTI); Faculty of Engineering and Technology; College of Technology; Faculty of Laws and Political Science and Faculty of Science.

Prof Horace Ngomo Manga, the Vice Chancellor, said the convocation event was proof that UB had lived up to its expectations from the government and the Cameroonian people.

He said the graduating students had been “equipped to conquer the world”.

He added that they “are well-baked and equipped in moral and academic development”. To succeed in the competitive job market, he said the graduands must be passionate about what they will decide to do and hold true to their dreams.

This is UB's 27th convocation and it is coming a few weeks after the “place to be” welcomed over 12,000 newly admitted students on November 22.

The African Union Congratulates Paul Biya on His Re-election

This Tuesday, October 28, 2025, as Cameroon remains shaken by deadly post-electoral protests, the reaction of the African Union has sparked widespread anger and disbelief.

In an official statement, the President of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, congratulated Paul Biya on his re-election as head of the Cameroonian state.
