We had a foot and mouth crisis at Ikun Dairy Farm a few years ago, that though curtailed, could have been managed quicker if we had our own veterinary hospital. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now.

Public Health Research says that 60% of human infectious diseases and 75% of emerging diseases come from animals. The issue of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is becoming a recurring issue in animal treatment. Its now a top 10 global public health threat.

The Model Veterinary Hospital currently under construction in Ado Ekiti is designed to strengthen veterinary services, improve disease diagnosis and surveillance, support vaccination and treatment of livestock and provide better animal health to farmers and the public across the state. it is also expected to serve as a referral and professional training centre for veterinarians and animal health personnels.

Prof Albert Alos came to Nigeria in the 60s and lectured in Ife, Lagos and Ibadan, before establishing Lagos Business School, and later, Pan Atlantic University. He would have been 87 on September 17. Above all, the biggest Culer!
