On 30 April 2020, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) released a public notice granting waivers to taxpayers on penalties and interests for outstanding tax liabilities. #PwCTaxChat

The period for the waiver was initially set to end on 31 May 2020, but it was extended to 30 June 2020, further extended to 31 August 2020, and finally extended to 31 December 2020. #PwCTaxChat

This means that the waiver would be valid if the taxpayer fully settles their outstanding tax liabilities by 31 December 2020. #PwCTaxChat

The waiver also applies to approved instalment payment plans under the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS) and such other plans yet to be fulfilled. #PwCTaxChat
