#Vitacrop, a startup supported by and incubated at CCAMP is helping identify the right genetic composition in plant proteins so that crops store enough energy to fuel growth in adverse weather conditions like droughts

During the Green Revolution, plants, crops, farms were pushed to produce more grains to enable food security for the country, but it came with a cost. Generations of these plants have developed reduced immunity and climate dependence

Vitacrop is helping reverse this phenomenon by enabling higher expression of plant proteins leading to greater adaptability and resilience. They then screen generations of gene-edited plants to filter out varieties that contain the foreign DNA so that offsprings are not genetically modified.

It's a way to introduce climate adept plants with greater productivity and infection resistance without GMO.
