I don’t feel the need to pounce at any opportunity for connection because I’ve lived enough life to see what desperation gets you. The math doesn’t change so I won’t cheat myself out of the quality I deserve to satiate a passing whim.
It takes a very long time to consider someone a friend. There is an off chance you will catch a character defining moment, and you see them do something only a true friend would. It’s not really about time, but the opportunity arising and having the eyes to see it.
Here's what Justin Gaethje said that made Ilia Topuria shove him:
🗣️ Gaethje: "You gonna hit me? Do it. I'm close enough right now."
🗣️ Dana White: "Dont do it -"
*Topuria shoves Gaethje*
🗣️ Topuria: "I don't want to hurt you... that's why I didn't punch you in your face."
😳😳😳
Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje go back and forth at the press conference:
🗣️ Topuria: "You're gonna be alone in that octagon with me. You're not even the world champion, what makes [your coach] the best?"
🗣️ Gaethje: "His success as a coach. His accomplishments as a coach."
🗣️ Topuria: "So that makes my coach the best because I won the world title in featherweight, then I moved up to lightweight and won the title."
🗣️ O'Malley: "No my coach is the best!" 😭
