One challenge of being an extroverted nerd is the want to talk to everyone who is wearing a sci-fi/fantasy t-shirt while shopping.
One of the great things about it though is how today I got to talk to a stranger at Target about which Star Trek Captain is the best. It's Jean Luc.
Okay. Have you noticed how dusty your home gets during Christmas Brought Me You? Like…I need to excuse myself and check the ventilation. I reckon the ceiling fans are verklempt and the ducts have a bunch of emotions.
Prett neat! My Saturday Gig has a nice sign in the front of the office. That said, on the way to work I’ve mastered getting stuck in traffic by Marietta Square due to all the 5k jingle jogs and turkey trots and Santa Dashes.
There's a cat that absolutely sashays in front of our kitchen window for the sole purpose of driving our dogs bonkers. It knows what its doing. Thus I will solve this problem by writing a story about cat comeuppance (once all this barking stops). It's the Writer Way.
A student was late nearly everyday to school last week. He and I came up with a plan that if made it on time to school this week, he’d get to hang out at the end of the day to play some games. Not only was he on time everyday, this afternoon he invented his own game. #tabletop
Brain: we need to get some sleep, full day of counseling on Saturday.
Brain: that’s a neat story idea, you should write it down.
Brain: also, why does your neck hurt?
Me: fine. It’s 4am. I know where this is going.
Coffee: I’m here for you.
@MariettaCitySch Proud to be in a district that supports their educators! Counseling kids and crushing COVID. I'm sure there's a story or two in my mind that'll come out of this experience :)
@kylan Certainly! If our minds are constantly entertained and "occupied" we often don't give ourselves space to think, day dream, and create. Boredom isn't bad--that's a great time to let the brain out for a walk. :)
Doing a Virtual Elementary School Author Visit! The best question of the day regarding writing stories and publishing has been: "You know chickens? Why do they walk so funny?" Love it.
Exploring science careers with a class and watching a Nat Geo Best Job Ever video. on a marine biologist. At one point, a kiddo raises her hand and sincerely asks, "Does he know where mermaids live?" I'd like to think he does.
