We can see from this graph on the bottom how Sharpe and CAGR % change as we mix $GLD in to the $SPY portfolio.

Get maximized at around 50%.

Even though this just has only 2 assets if you use your current portfolio as the main asset instead of $SPY then you can see how mixing $GLD into it would change the performance.
