@FeralObscurity She blinked, sucking in a whoosh of air and everything felt like it was moving in slow motion. Her eyes searched his, studying.
Caroline wanted to remember every detail of the moment. The sound of his heart thundering in his chest and his ragged breathing as she took longer —
@FeralObscurity Caroline was a victim of the past when it came to what she wanted and what she got. She absolutely wanted that with Dero. She just hoped that it could happen.
A soft smile lit her face as she wordlessly sunk into his tighter embrace.
@FeralObscurity She blinked a few times, his words repeating themselves over and over in her mind.
“No...I...it’s...”
Her bottom lip pulled in to rest under her top row of teeth and she breathed out softly. “There’s nothing I’d want more.”
@FeralObscurity The statement rocked her like no other. It crept in through her ears and spread outward, sending a warm tingling that reached to her toes. He...he wanted that?
Caroline tried to force herself to speak but for once, she was rendered speechless.
@DeadMisanthrope Again, the eye roll was heavy. She sighed and shook her head in mock disappointment.
“Right, I forgot how you like to fly by the seat of those really expensive pants...”
@DeadMisanthrope Her eyes rolled dramatically.
“Ouch. My feelings.”
With a huff, Caroline shoved his shoulder lightly. “What’s the plan?” Because only Caroline would Plan spontaneity.
@DeadMisanthrope A light laugh escaped as she primped her new hairstyle in the hall mirror.
“It’s exhausting to be so perfect all the time...and maybe Dero has had some influence...”
@DeadMisanthrope “I’ve got the best pair of shoes for this!”
It takes mere seconds for her to return, pulling her blonde hair into a bun.
“It has been too long...”
@DeadMisanthrope “I’ll take it.”
Caroline glanced up at him with a heavy sigh. No further conversation on that matter was needed.
“Well, it’s never too early to drink yourself into thinking you’re somewhere else.”
@DeadMisanthrope “Come on...you know I’m a one dog kind of girl these days. Annnnnnd he doesn’t smell that bad.”
There was a slight pause, seriousness creeping into her tone.
“I missed you.”
@FeralObscurity His slip up did not go unnoticed by her and it immediately dispelled the sadness that threatened to creep in and consume them both. She pressed her forehead again his, sighing happily.
“Who says I want to be a 90 year old’s girlfriend, huh?”
@FeralObscurity “You know...”
Caroline mumbled as she leaned back to admire his road worn face.
“...I do have eternity...”
The statement was too jarring for her to finish. Eternity without him...she wasn’t sure it would be manageable.
@FeralObscurity A soft exhale turns into a giggle as she peppers his face with kisses, stroking the soft skin along his cheek with her thumb.
“You know what they say...true love never dies.”
