My goal as a family life educator is to help couples create a strong, long-lasting, and enjoyable marriage by finding creative ways to make their marriage a priority throughout every stage of life!
@EliMcCann I've been off X for a bit, and just am scrolling your entire feed to catch up. CONGRATS!!! You two will be the best dads!! Mr. Baby is lucky to have you!
@EliMcCann One year I walked into Dairy Queen to get my treat for girl's when the session had ended early and it was just a sea of men and boys in suits. I wasn't sure if I'd died and gone to heaven or hell....
Date idea! BUILD WITH BLOCKS
Work together to build something amazing using building blocks. The tallest tower, a small Lego town, a model of your current or dream home, or the craziest looking creature.
Date idea! HOST A FAVORITE THINGS GROUP DATE
Invite a group of your favorite couples over for a favorite things party. Have each couple or individual bring three of the same thing, their favorite thing, to swap. Also, invite everyone to bring a favorite treat or snack to share.
Date idea! WATCH OLD FAMILY VIDEOS
Organize the video clips you’ve saved on your hard drive together. Spend a few hours watching each video together and remembering those moments in your marriage and your family.
Date idea! HOST A GAME NIGHT GROUP DATE
Invite your friend group or your siblings and their significant others to your house for a few hours. Pull out your favorite games and have everyone bring their favorite snack.
Date idea! TAKE A BATH OR SOAK IN A HOT TUB TOGETHER
Pick up your favorite bath bomb or bath salts and set candles out around your bathroom. Climb into the bathtub together and just enjoy being together.
Date idea! TAKE A PAINTING CLASS
Art studios in your area may host paint nights geared toward date night, where each spouse paints half of a painting, on two separate canvases. No matter your skill level, you should be able to create something that you will be proud to display.
Date idea! HAVE A SNOWPERSON BUILDING CONTEST
When you get that perfect snowfall, plan a time to go out together and build snowpeople! Create your own unique designs, using creative objects for their faces, hair, clothes, etc.
Date idea! HAVE A DANCE/MUSIC LISTENING PARTY
Listen to each of your current favorites, the songs that were your favorites in junior high and high school, or your wedding songs, or set your iPod on shuffle and listen to whatever ends up in the queue.
Date idea! TAKE A WALK IN THE FRESHLY FALLEN SNOW AFTER DARK
Late night walks are quiet and relaxing and a great time to talk and dream together. Put on your warmest clothes and just walk together, enjoying the silence that comes with freshly fallen snow.
Date idea! HAVE A MOVIE MARATHON
Pick your favorite movie series and have a marathon! Plan themed snacks, a few games to keep you active in between movies, and maybe a “phrase/word counting” game.
Date idea! GO ON A HOT CHOCOLATE TASTING TOUR
Ask your friends and family what their recommendations are for where to get the best cup of hot chocolate. Write down all of their suggestions and map out a route for your tour.
Date idea! GO ICE SKATING
Most areas have great outdoor skating rinks during the winter, as long as the temperature is cool enough. There’s something so cozy and romantic about bundling up and holding hands while you skate around on the ice.
Date idea! GO TO AN ESCAPE ROOM
Escape rooms are a lot of fun, especially if you bring a few friends along. If you don’t have one near you, or if they are out of your budget, you can enjoy one at home. Search online for ideas to use at home.
Date idea! PLAN AN INDOOR CAMPOUT
Set up your tent in the living room, blow up your air mattress, play card games, and eat camp food. Search Pinterest for indoor s’mores, have hot dogs, or cook hobo dinners (meat, potatoes, and other vegetables cooked in a tin foil packet).
