Utility apps aren’t exciting. Their revenue numbers are.
Utilities are just 3.7% of new non-game apps.
But they make up 8.3% of the ones already clearing $20K/month.
50 utility apps launched in the last 8 months have crossed that mark worldwide.
Sometimes boring is exactly what people are willing to pay to make easier.

Apps don’t get discovered by accident.
The right title, subtitle, and keywords help put them in front of the right people.

📱 Your app can’t get downloaded if it can’t get found.
Your title, subtitle, and keywords all shape whether the algorithm puts you in front of the right users.

🎨 Picsart made $9M in July. “Photo editor” is apparently not specific enough.
It’s running 70 custom product pages around angles like:
1. Swap a background
2. Try a new hair color
3. Turn a photo into a viral AI video
4. Make a white product shot
5. Remove objects
6. Build a collage
A broad product doesn’t need broad marketing.
The more specific the job, the easier it is to see why you need the app.
Just released v3.0.0 of our CLI and this one’s all about keywords:
1️⃣ Keyword and search term performance for Apple Ads
2️⃣ Hourly and daily rank trends for tracked keywords
3️⃣ Keyword suggestions (based on our model)

🚨 Apple released guidance for the new App Store product page headers. A few quick thoughts:
0. Do this!
1. Don't focus on features - Show the one thing that will make users go "wow! I need this". It's usually not a feature but a set of them (aka a solution).
2. Less is more - less colors, less elements, less clutter.
3. Show social proof - but don't exaggerate or fake it. Real or nothing.
4. Don't half a$$ this - It's the first thing users will see. If it's ugly they won't download
I'm going to experiment with headers in the coming months and will have more thoughts to share then.
$11.7M in July for an app that tells you what plant you're looking at.
PictureThis runs 100 custom product pages around that same camera.
The strongest angles:
1. identify a plant
2. diagnose a sick one
3. care reminders
4. toxic-plant warnings
5. gardening
6. new plant parents
The camera answers one question.
The marketing finds 100 moments when someone needs the answer.
Every keyword you bid on is either earning installs or wasting budget.

AI is #1.
But the rest of the top of the US business chart looks a lot less flashy.
On July 20:
3. Adobe Acrobat
7. CamScanner
8. iScanner
9. Microsoft Word
Four of the top 10 help you scan, edit, or create documents.
The apps people rely on every day are still some of the biggest businesses on the App Store.

📈 Turns out there's still room for new social apps.
13 social networking apps launched in the last 8 months have already crossed $50K/month worldwide.
The leader is already at $220K/month.
The category is still producing new winners.

Optimizing Apple Ads campaigns requires effort. A lot of effort.
We're changing that, and we're looking for a few eta testers to help us test an early version of the new features.
