It has come to my notice that in some districts, teachers are being deployed for routine clerical & administrative tasks. This is unacceptable.

Teachers are not mere govt employees — they are torchbearers of knowledge, entrusted with the sacred duty of shaping Punjab’s future. 📚

Section 27 of the RTE Act clearly prohibits engaging teachers in non-educational work, except Census, Disaster Relief & Elections. Their presence in classrooms is non-negotiable.

I have written to the Chief Secretary, Punjab, to ensure:
✅ No teacher is assigned non-teaching duties.
✅ If unavoidable, prior written approval of the Education Department is mandatory.

Our teachers must be allowed to do what they do best — nurture & educate our children. Their time belongs in classrooms, not in files or fields. ✍️

AAM AADMI PARTY’S BETRAYAL EXPOSED – EFFIGY BURNING | ACROSS PUNJAB | SEPT 19, 2025

#1158AssistantProfessorAndLibrarians from government colleges across Punjab burned effigies of CM @BhagwantMann’s government in every district, under the banner of 1158 Front Punjab.
Several student unions, including
PSU(Lalkaar), PSU (Shaheed Randhawa), PRSU, SFI, AISA, AISF, PSF activists, stood in solidarity.

Why?
Because the @AAPPunjab government broke its promise to file a review petition — with strong case representation and all legal remedies — in the Supreme Court to protect the 1158 merit-based recruitments of Assistant Professors and Librarians.

These are highly qualified educators — selected fairly through a transparent process.

The AAP government has betrayed the 1158 professors.

This is a fight for #Justice_For_1158 — to save govt. colleges and higher education in Punjab.

UPDATE:
The crucial meeting regarding the #1158AssistantProfessorAndLibrarians, initially scheduled for 18 September 2025 with the Cabinet Sub-Committee—comprising Cabinet Minister @AroraAmanSunam, Finance Minister @HarpalCheemaMLA and Higher Education Minister @harjotbains—was postponed and later rescheduled for 8 October 2025 at 12:30 PM, Punjab Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh.

However, after strong protests across every district of Punjab, including the burning of effigies of CM @BhagwantMann's government, the meeting has now been rescheduled again for 25 September 2025 at 1:00 PM.

If this time there is any betrayal by the Aam Aadmi Party—whether by postponing the meeting again, delay or by failing to file a review petition for the 1158 professors, despite the strong legal case and available legal remedies—we are fully prepared to resume our struggle on the streets.

We have already faced jail, lathicharge, and various hardships.
We do not fear anything.

We, the 1158 professors, are proud of our merit.
