Our team has recently been interviewed to give some insights into the new Gladiator II film trailer! It is not all doom and gloom and it is fair to say @DrJEBall@BelovedOfOizys and @reeshistory are very excited to see it come out later this year: https://t.co/wF5UiY6FwG

What a way to end the week 💥💥💥
Very proud to be named 1st in England for “student satisfaction” by the @compuniguide
Testament to our incredible staff, our focus on an inclusive community, and our support for students ⬇️
Dr Louise Hickman from Newman University delivering a session to Year 12 Pragmatics on the theology of Personhood and Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence! It was absolutely brilliant! Thank you so much! @Newman_Uni
We were delighted to welcome Alem Al-Khamiri to our class last week. He spoke with our students about marketing, setting up your own business, and the key lessons for effective networking. It was a fantastic session.
Thanks as always to @Holl_Wallace for the images.
Last week we were delighted to host Sally Murray-Fella who came in to talk to students about the realities of teaching in the West Midlands - the good and the not so good. Students came away really inspired by her stories + the passion with which she spoke about the profession!
Yesterday we had the pleasure of Steve Roberts coming in as our external speaker. He took us through a really entertaining session about the nature of counseling as a profession and what it entails.
This week we had the pleasure of hosting @jessphillips as our external speaker. Subjects covered included the importance of the humanities, safeguarding women, the importance of political engagement in working class communities, and the impact of cuts to services in Birmingham!
Gave a talk with students about my writing career and decided to show them the kind of feedback and edits I receive. I thought it only fair, as they get my feedback on their work, to show them that they're not alone.
When they saw large passages deleted, there was audible shock!
This week's 'external' speaker was our very own @reeshistory who came in his guise as a writer to talk to students about productivity, creativity and breaking into the creative industries. He also showed egs. of the kind of edits and feedback he gets from his editors.
Our day ended with small group coaching opportunities to discuss people's plans and goals. It was a nice way to end a great day. Our thanks to our social media star @Holl_Wallace for sorting out the photos 3/3
Today we have hosted a Humanities Horizon event @Newman_Uni. Staff from the different disciplines came together to run some session for applicants and current students. Our first session was all about humans, animals, zoos and aliens ... you had to be there! 1/3
For one of our 1st year modules we invite a series of external speakers in to present every week, covering a wide variety of employment sectors to share their experiences and life stories! It is always a popular series, and our latest speaker Sian Campbell was just fantastic.
A huge congratulations to our Applied Humanities team for their Academic Department of the Year nomination at the NSU awards 2024 @Newman_Uni! And well done to @Kiaod and Duncan Frankis who both won individual staff awards, and our 2nd year Rosie who also won a student award!
