Incidentally, correspondence with Andrew over the last ten years of middling to poor crops for him in Essex due to extreme weather+ drought are one of the many reasons why I think apple production might well shift west over next few decades.

On the one hand, it's depressing: there is nothing special about this #apple as there are hundreds like it found every year. So to run it as a news story is misleading+bad for scientific literacy.
