CBC's own ombudsman ruled that lived experience is not a conflict of interest, and that it deepens their journalism. That standard apparently does not extend to Jewish journalists.

CBC’s own former Ombudsman said in a ruling a journalist’s lived experience can “rest comfortably within journalistic standards.” So explain this: Neil Herland @NEWSneil attended a Yom Kippur service, he documented what he encountered. He talked about his lived experience. Now he’s under investigation, ripped off the air. The double standard is appalling. Neil is a friend, as is the journalist the Ombudsman ruled on. @NEWSneil was one of the first to reach out to me when I called @CBC out. I won't forget that. @CBC has spent years plastering “diversity” and “lived experience” on billboards, in commercials and throughout its corporate messaging. That isn’t a principle you get to switch off when it becomes uncomfortable. @NEWSneil belongs back on the air. I hope the union is fighting like hell for him, but I doubt it. Simple Question: how many dumpster fires🔥 at our public broadcaster do we have to witness before something is done @MarcMillerVM?

John Cleese, 86, is being targeted by activist group Deenified as he tours England with his Holy Grail stage show. The group has accused him on X of "using your platform to attack Islam" and "spreading dangerous misinformation," with one activist calling free speech "a convenient shield for anti-Muslim hostility."

Cleese rejects the Islamophobe label entirely, calling himself "Islamosceptic," and has pointed out nobody ever called him "Christophobic" after Life of Brian. Islamic outlet 5Pillars has gone further still, explicitly demanding he be de-platformed.

Rupert Lowe has already called this what it is: a pressure group trying to bully an 86-year-old man into silence over jokes and honest opinions. He's right, and he's right to tell Restore Britain to back Cleese publicly.

These people don't want dialogue. They want submission. Every time someone caves to this kind of pressure, it teaches them the tactic works, and they come back harder next time for the next target. Cleese is refusing to bow, and every single person who values the right to criticise a religion without getting hounded for it should be standing directly behind him.
