I love spending time with my kids who are now 18 and 20 years old and still like hanging around with me. I was always sad when August would roll around and they had to go back to school.
If you are not enjoying being a parent it’s because you are immature and selfish. There is a deep and profound joy available to all parents, but it requires some measure of maturity and self-sacrifice to attain it. If you never grow as a person then you will hate parenthood and resent your children. But those feelings are your fault. A reflection of your defective character. That’s the harsh truth.
The gospel was never meant to be something that is needed only at the time of conversion. We need the gospel each day to point us back to our fallen state and to his magnificent grace.
