Yesterday we opened a discussion to our holders and the Aptos community as a whole -- here is a summarized version of the things people would like to see from Aptomingos in 2024, alongside a few comments from the team. ❤️

#1 - Maintain what we have.
This is by far the best and most mature suggestion we got from the community. The purpose of Aptomingos will always be, and has always been to create an exclusive community of like-minded people interested in the Aptos ecosystem. An OG community the ecosystem could respect and look up to. We think we've found a system that works for us in that regard, and the top priority, whether bull or bear market, will always be to maintain the activity of the DAO, so we can continue to provide high tier opportunities for our holders. The opportunities we provide aren't necessarily locked to the Aptos ecosystem -- we've secured high tier opportunities on other chains such as SOL, ETH, BTC and SEI, easily grossing over a million dollars in the past year.

#2 - Staking.
Staking is a complicated topic, and we've purposefully avoided the idea of it for that very reason. Staking is a great way to replicate a royalty program for your holders, but it often comes with expectations of something more. We love our friends on Aptos, and they can also be great references for learning! Look at @AptosMonkeys and @bruh_bears as two different examples of staking. One has a token pegged to it (seedz), where you get a certain amount of it every day. The other has a counter (levels) that goes up over time. In both cases, you would quickly know who your loyal holders are. Either they have accumulated a lot of seedz, or they have a high level bear. This is pretty cool, but you'd often have to try to find use-cases for these situations -- that's the part that's pretty complicated. Aptomingos was always supposed to be pretty simple, and the main utility you get from holding one is access to the community and the opportunities we provide within that community. For now, we'd like to keep it that way, but that doesn't mean we'd never do anything for our most loyal holders.

#3 - An advanced memecoin.
Okay, let's do it -- that sounds fun. Just like anything else we've ever done, expect this to be an exciting and fun experience. We're not going to just mint a bunch of tokens, add some liquidity, airdrop them and say "good luck soldiers". There will be some interesting and hopefully innovative mechanics that make the entire experience fun to participate in.

#4 - A timeframe for Club Bizarre and [REDACTED] keys.
Timeframes have become a pretty sensitive topic for us, especially when we've outsourced work to different artists and developers. When we create something ourselves, you can always count on us to announce a deadline and more often than not, we'll stick to it. The problem with outsourcing to people who aren't core team members, is that the reliability can become an issue. However, what we can tell you, is that we are doing internal testing very soon, and we're aiming to do a public test this month that we hope the entire Aptos ecosystem will take part in.

#5 - Bring back the fun.
One of the many things we mingos say, is that we're bullish on community, experiences and having fun. Yes, you're probably in crypto to make money, but there's no reason that should be the only reason you're here. We've done things in the past to try to engage the community, whether through silly livestreams, consuming beverages through the medium of shoes, or various competitions, but we're going to bring that back in 2024. It should be fun to be here. It should be fun to be on Aptos. We're gonna make it fun. Let's have some fun.

We'll be creating a whimsical roadmap for 2024 to showcase the things we're gonna try to achieve.

MAKE MINGOS GREAT AGAIN!

No, but seriously - there's a ton of structural changes going on behind the scenes, so let's talk about them and discuss the future of Aptomingos.

Being what is essentially a non-profit NFT project with virtually no revenue streams can be tough, and it puts a lot of pressure on us that doesn't necessarily belong to the spirit of what we initially attempted to do.

Aptomingos was, and will always be, a first-mover on Aptos. It was a community specifically designed to help newcomers navigate through the ecosystem, without having to worry about investing a ton of capital.

We were a free mint.

Now regardless of whether it was free or not, we still had a ton of expectations for what we could and/or should achieve. The ecosystem looked to us for a sort of golden standard for what a community should look like - that was awesome!

What was less awesome was the external pressures we put on ourselves to do things that weren't necessarily part of the original plan.

Perhaps the purpose of Aptomingos was truly just to be an OG community that vibed and shared alpha with each other.

We'd like to get back to that, so first and foremost, let's address some things.

SHRIMP was a failure.

But honestly, we'd rather admit that than just completely ignore it.

You see, we've never shied away from the challenges and/or failures, they are actually usually embraced within our community - after all, we're just a bunch of idiots on the internet, so for real, what did you expect?

There's a ton of possibilities and reasons why it went wrong, but we won't get into the nitty gritty of that right now. At the end of the day, it's our project, so we naturally take full responsibility for the failure of SHRIMP, but instead of dwelling on the past, we'd like to focus on the future.

We accept that SHRIMP was a failure, but will take the process and creation of it as a lesson in what we should and should not do in the future.

As a community, we've decided that the best course of action is to be proactive, by pulling the plug on SHRIMP so that Aptomingos may continue to live - there's truly something poetic about that.

SHRIMP will live on in spirit, but a majority of the liquidity will be removed to ensure that Aptomingos can continue for the foreseeable future.

There's going to be some structural changes.

The Discord will become more aggressively gated again, with the original 1212 Aptomingos being the only people that have FULL access.

We will go back to focusing on relationships and opportunities, rather than actively trying to "build".

This will hopefully create a clearer vision for what the f*ck Aptomingos actually is and what we stand for.

We sincerely hope you understand our choices, and will continue to support the journey - but if you don't, that's okay too - we are just a bunch of pixelated flamingos after all.

The Goals!

Another core mechanic of SHRIMP that was thoroughly explained in the pre-launch logistics, and was marketed as "Let's do good" in our Galxe campaign.

We'd like to stay true to that statement, while also providing you guys with insight into the thresholds needed to be hit to get there.

In total, we've burned over 2,500,000 SHRIMP so far.

A pretty impressive number, but what does that mean for the mechanics like The Reserve and The Goals?

Here is a rundown of the first milestones we've hit:
100,000 = Flamingo wildlife charity donation.
250,000 = Eggs and Aptominglets.
500,000 = SHRIMP costume and content shenanigans.
750,000 = The Barbecue!
1,000,000 = Aptomingo auctions.
1,500,000 = Swag packs.
2,000,000 = Co-host a side-event in Korea for Aptos Experience.
2,500,000 = [REDACTED]

In basic terms, the amount of SHRIMP being used and burned correlates with the progress of the project. This was designed in a way to engage with the users, while also maintaining control of a good portion of the supply, and periodically utilizing that supply for good, rather than profit.

The Reserve is an allocation of 30% of total supply, and whenever we hit certain thresholds, some of that will be utilized.

However, goals will always be 'cheaper' than the burn threshold needed to hit them. We don't want to create unnecessary selling pressure, but some is unavoidable with a model like this.
