Replying to #BehindEveryTest @TheACBNews :
Agreed! BUT there has to be a grown-up debate about mitigating the risks of false negative & false positive results, AND who is doing the quality management of the mass testing, so as to reduce all types of error!
Replying to @bbchealth. If the Roche antibody test out in the community really is 100% sensitive & 99.8% specific as reported, the number of false positive results will equal the number of true positive results if prevalence is 0.2%.

Things that worry me about #TestingForCovid19 No.2: No one seems to be talking about the likely pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical errors with mass testing...
Things that worry me about #TestingForCovid19 No.1: no one seems to be talking about the diagnostic sensitivity & specificity of tests, false negative & positive results and the effects of prevalence on predictive values...
We've just launched a COVID-19 resources page on our website homepage. This shows links to websites and documents that lab staff might find useful. The link is in the title panel of the Whats New? section of the Home page. https://t.co/IsB8899AOQ
Just a bit concerned about the quality of COVID-19 tests, their validation & verification and their diagnostic sensitivity & specificity. No-one seems to be talking about false positive & false negative rates and their impact.
AQMLM is postponing its April & June events so that lab staff time & resources may be prioritised to fight COVID-19. Others may be converted to Webinars. More info at https://t.co/LZPRGD5BE0
