@ChooChooCharo @ghost351acc @scrowder Fun fact, Crowder was pretty open about the fact that they didn't take any PPP loans, Also interestingly, FEMA and other federal programs exist for the purpose of helping mitigate the damage done in those disasters, but you're only critiquing people who used PPP, not FEMA? 🤔
@ChooChooCharo @ghost351acc @scrowder Yes but, again, the financial burden of existing is not what's causing the problem solved by PPP loans. The burden of being forcibly prevented from doing business is. If people are out of work because the gov shot it down, then that's the gov's fault, not business owners'
@ghost351acc @scrowder EZPZ no more student loans. The reason tuition is high is because the institution would be leaving money on the table as long as the government and banks are subsidizing the bill. When they don't, they either shut down, or lower prices. Funny how your answer is always free stuff.
@ChooChooCharo @ghost351acc @scrowder Yes, and when a business fails on its own merits, it deserves it. Like when the banks collapsed because of their own decisions. Were you mad about the bank bail outs? I was. But these businesses weren't failing because of their decisions, it was because the gov shut them down.
@DiegoKaqui @ghost351acc @scrowder PPP loans were not measly amounts, they were business loans to allow them to continue paying payroll during covid shutdowns. And it wasn't universities that closed down businesses, it was the government. Why would uni's have to pay for the gov's decisions?
@ghost351acc @scrowder You do realize that the government has no hand in tuition prices? More correctly you realize the reason tuition prices are so high is because people can afford to pay it because of student loans? If the gov stopped funding them, then tuition prices would fall.
@ghost351acc @scrowder Have you ever met someone who went to university? And yes, the tax payers pay for it. Do you really not understand how culpability works for these sorts of things? When you do harm to another, you owe them for it. That it's the government makes no difference.
@ghost351acc @scrowder Nobody forced them to open it, but opening it wasn't what caused the problem, you're thinking of those big bailouts of the airline industries and banks. It's the closing that caused the problem, and that WAS forced. By the Government. So the Government pays for it.
@ghost351acc @scrowder There's a fundamental difference here in that ppp loans were to maintain employee jobs and paychecks during a -government mandated- shutdown. Student loan forgiveness is a person choosing to take on a financial burden, getting one that doesn't pay for itself, and we pay for it.
