@FOXFOOTY Very ordinary line of questioning. Lyon answered directly & quite comprehensively.
Low rent journalism - trying to get a rise out of Lyon rather than being interested in the explanation.
@dontblamedata@SrSittingBull@TheRealBozza@RobbieSlater17 💯 I challenged Robbie a few times & he was so protective of Arnie. My main question was which young players he thought Arnie had given a chance to? Reminder Arnie wasn’t playing Circati, Bos, Robertson & others. Robbie’s answer: he was playing those good enough- Keanu Baccus
@BinManIan@SrSittingBull None of this matters at all if you don’t give the kids a chance in the senior team. Who was the last player to come through the academy, into the senior team aside from Inserra?
@vesh88 And then there’s the super talented Gianluca Okon and a wave of other 17-20 year olds coming through. Including Pearman, Mehmeti, MacNicol, Eames, Kikianis & others.
@InTheMixer@ScottyFEFL@cracklarry Rubbish. Luke Wilkshire was plucked from League One by Hiddink & put straight into the NT in 2006. Mass Luongo was playing League One with Swindon when Ange turned him into the star player of the 2015 Asian Cup.
@InTheMixer For what it’s worth I think he has both the athletic & the technical profile to succeed at Barnsley. The unknown is does he have the belief. We’ll find out.
@InTheMixer Robbo stayed with Cardiff when they went down, now goes back up. If he has a good season in the Championship he’s in the frame for the NT. Gauci’s form fluctuated so he has been passed by Beach, for now.
Taylor would not get an immediate start in the Championship. Right move.
@the_aussie_game@AUSFUTNews@GaryMoretti Agreed - good move to go somewhere and play every week even if it’s League One. It’s now up to him - if he performs he’ll be noticed as Robertson did at Portsmouth.
@Wikus_de_mere @VinceRugari Kewell was EPL young player of the year at 21 and led Leeds to 3rd then was a key player in a CL run at 23. Volpato has real promise but he looks much better than what his output is at the moment.
@srod009 Agree that development is an issue. But you cannot tell me our youth is not better now than 15 years ago - post golden generation it was a barren wasteland.
Now we have 15-20 elite players under 23 years of age.
