For #MuseumsUnlocked Day 81, we'd like to take you on a tour of the Tropaeum Traiani, a #Roman military tropaeum located in our backyard in south-eastern #Romania 🇷🇴
Why is a Roman monument relevant for @MuseumsUnlocked's #Communism day, you ask? (1/x)
Exciting news, the Roman frontier in Dacia (Romania) has been added to the transnational Frontiers of the Roman Empire World Heritage Site! https://t.co/bY254fLhC8

Why should we study Roman frontiers?
In the 1st issue of #TRAJ, David Breeze discussed why the study of #RomanFrontiers is essential for understanding the Empire as a whole & how the Romans related with other peoples.

The Open Access Theoretical Roman Archaeology Journal (#TRAJ) was founded to encourage a broader array of voices publishing critical approaches to #RomanArchaeology. This is due in no small part to the efforts of @LisaLodwick, who has left us far too soon. (1/2)
For my last full day in #Rome and #EpigraphyTuesday, an inscription noting the expansion of the pomerium by Claudius. Currently attached to a wall along Via del Pellegrino after being found nearby.

We have some very exciting news! We've found the remains of Turret 3a of Hadrian’s Wall in the Ouseburn area of Newcastle, one of the largest turrets uncovered and the only one confirmed to the east of Newcastle.
A few of the #Halmyris gang reunited at the #Irchester Field School over the past few weeks, we had a terrific time getting back in the trenches to excavate the #Roman town of Irchester w/ the @ArchAncHistLeic's new #communityarchaeology project! @ChesterHouse_UK
