This is our lovely new acquisition.
It’s the archive of Janet Hodgson, who was an artist that explored ideas of time, history and archaeology 👩🎨
And it gives us a lovely excuse to nip down and show you how the freezer works. An utter thrill.
Join us in the library tomorrow (Wed 21 Sept), 6pm to hear more about this work & our display series Archive Lives: Documenting Women’s Sculptural Practices in Britain.

Absolutely amazing to watch @HAIMtheband in Leeds last night, serenading @LeedsCityMuseum with the most beautiful song!
It really is a fantastic museum they’re spot on
#ICYMI here's one for shoe obsessives... Take a look at this fantastic piece of costume by Helen Chadwick (1953–1996) that we showed @cubitts in the archive when they came in for a chat.

In the second instalment of our conversation from the archive with Cubitts we explore the theme of curiosity.
Pictured here is a shoe made by Helen Chadwick when she was at university, one object of many from our extensive collection held in the Archive of Sculptors’ Papers.
Imagine recording a video to promote series 4 of Museums n’That and choosing 9am in Leeds City Centre, under some scaffolding, to do it.
Anyway. That’s us. You’re welcome.
Ep 1 is out now - wherever you get your pods! Or right here: https://t.co/ROaK2DSEcQ 💫

This week #FFTA returns as @Archivist_Errin looks at sculptor Hugo Powell's (1919-2014) archive. Born & raised in Reading, Powell’s art career began at Hornsey School of Art in the 1930s. As a teenager he fell in love with sculpture & even visited sculptor Eric Gill at his studio
In central London, a stone's throw from last week’s ‘Spirit of Trade Unionism’ sculpture, is the @britishmuseum
An iconic piece of sculpture is proudly displayed above the large entrance pillars: 'The Progress of Civilisation', by Sir Richard Westmacott (1775-1856).
#FFTA
For this week’s #FFTA we are celebrating the birthday of our very own, Henry Moore!
Born on this day in 1898. Our sister site, @henrymooresg, down in Perry Green, Hertfordshire, is the home to the Henry Moore Archive.
#FFTA is back this week & @Archivist_Errin is looking at artist John Joseph Bunting, born in London in 1927. He went to North Yorkshire to Catholic boarding school @AmpleforthColl. While there he met Robert Thompson, the founder of a furniture company in nearby village Kilburn.
For this week's #FFTA we are introducing you to Henry Hugh Armstead (1828–1905), who was born #OnThisDay in 1828.
Armstead was a 19th Century sculptor, who specialised in large-scale monumental sculptures and sculptural decorations for buildings.
After a lovely warm week @Archivist_Errin brings you a #FFTA exploring a sculptor heavily influenced by the natural world.
Today we're looking at our Ivor Abrahams archive collection. Abrahams (1935-2015) made sculpture, ceramics & prints & is best known for his garden scenes
@RCA@LeedsArtGallery In the archive we hold lots of pictures and sketches in the Toft collection as well as correspondence and personal papers.
The archive is now open and we look forward to seeing you there soon. You can book an appointment through our website: https://t.co/nWEMNc4YPj
