I've been trying to ignore all the clips of crazy women on-line crying and hailing admitted murderers as victims, be it a deranged mom or a sexually deviant leftist. But there are too many commonalities with moms within my own sphere who have fallen for the flat earth or other conspiracies currently en vogue. So when @conservmillen posted that women shouldn't be on TikTok I had to agree. And while I can't tell from the context of her tweet why she would come to that conclusion, my current deep dive into the second pastoral epistle to Timothy is what drove me to mine.
Consider the following list Paul makes describing the kind of people that were going to make for difficult times in the last days. They were going to be:
Lovers of self
Lovers of money
Boastful
Arrogant
Blasphemers
Disobedient to parents
Ungrateful
Unholy
Unloving
Irreconsilable
Malicious gossips
Without self control
Without gentleness
Without love for good
Treacherous
Reckless
Conceited
Lovers of pleasure, not God
Holding to a powerless form of godliness.
Paul says to keep away from people matching this description. Why? Because they target weak women. They take them captive in their own homes. They don't have to capture and abduct them. They are literally invited in through the front door, or in our day, through a handheld device carried in their pockets.
What makes these women easy prey? They are weakened by sin, unconfessed, unrepentant sin that has weighed them down. They are weakened by their own emotions and desires which they allow themselves to be led by. Even while doing "all the research," these women are continually learning and yet NEVER ABLE TO COME TO A FULL KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH.
In a word, they are perfect candidates for deception, for cult participation, even for demon possession. So in an age when social media gives deceivers instant, unfettered 24/7 access to weak women, I have to agree with Allie Beth. Simply avoiding those that match Paul's thorough description and the platforms where they congregate would go along way toward protecting weak, vulnerable women from social, psychological, and spiritual predators.
Ladies, if you are emotionally, psychologically, or spiritually weakened due to hormones, physical exhaustion, anxiety, trauma, unrepentant or unconfessed sin, whatever, STAY AWAY FROM SOCIAL MEDIA. Find an older women in your church and tell her what you are going through and that you need the real life companionship and help of other godly women.
And for heaven's sake if you're going to have a break down or crash out or whatever, ask her to be the audience, not your phone and millions of internet strangers. How is the filming of such tantrums even considered within the realms of healthy normality?!?!
Faithful fatherhood means bringing our children to church, opening the Bible at home, praying with them, showing them a life of repentance and joy, and entrusting them to the mercy of God. —Michael Brown (@MGBrown1543)

God calls us to a renewed life, but it still takes patience, sacrifice, discipline, and compassion. But God is with us every step of the way, working through His Spirit to restore everything that has been damaged. Listen for God’s call to this transformed life and hold tight to the promise of the One who said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”
I think the online reactions of, “same, Lindsay” are making a pretty good argument for how empathy becomes toxic. Almost like @conservmillen was right all along.
Have had 3 babies and the 4th is on the way. None of my postpartums have been what I would call easy. After my first, especially, I had a lot of anxiety over her being safe, healthy, etc. Thankfully this subsided after a few weeks. But I can tell you this: the very LAST thing that would have helped me during this time would have been setting up my phone, pressing record, doing 2-3 takes of me acting sad, editing it, then posting to social media in the hopes of receiving affirmation from strangers. These videos are either hyperbolic performances or they’re just willingly exacerbating their struggle. Either way, it’s completely unhealthy
