Why do we call the toilets the ‘heads’ on a boat?
It comes from the old days of sail, when the toilets were located right up forward, underneath the figure head. The toilet would have been a seat with a hole, with a chute for the waste, and a door if you were lucky!
Free with every RYA Day Skipper course we will send you a Blundell Harling Portland Plotter and Dividers set worth £29.99!
