1) ChatGPT's free, and Claude, Cursor, and Grok are established. Why pick ArRENCE?

Straight answer: if you need the single smartest model on the planet for one hard problem, the big labs win... and we'll tell you that to your face. We're a tiny indie lab; we're not out-spending OpenAI on a trillion-parameter model.

So we built a different KIND of assistant:

Who it's honestly NOT for (today): anyone needing the absolute frontier model for cutting-edge research or coding at scale or a privacy purist with the hardware who wants nothing to ever leave their own box . For that, go local, and we'll point you there.

We're a small team, so we went deep on being the trustworthy, do-it-all daily assistant for normal people instead of trying to win every benchmark.

4) You make big encryption/privacy claims. How do we know any of it's true?

Fair... "trust us, it's private" is worthless. So here's the actual mechanism and how to check it, including the parts that aren't magic.

What's encrypted, and how: your long-term memory (what Ren remembers across sessions) is locked with standard, audited crypto; Argon2id to turn your password into a key, AES-256-GCM to encrypt the data. The key comes from YOUR password; we never store it in readable form. The memory blob sits on our system as ciphertext only, the server holding it literally can't read it. And it's not homemade crypto; it's the same primitives banks use, with a built-in self-test that proves it round-trips.

The caveat we won't hide: encryption protects your STORED memory. The live message you send still has to be readable the instant the AI computes a reply... that's true of every hosted AI on earth, ours included; it's physics, not a loophole. What's different is where and who: ~95% runs on our own hardware, not Big Tech's data centers, we don't sell your data, and we don't train on your conversations. That is because, and this is the most important part, we don't scrape your messages or have humans reading them as they come through... it's a fully automated system, and the long term memories it saves stay locked behind encryption. There's exactly ONE exception, and it's yours to opt into... if an answer isn't satisfactory, you can choose to send that single question and answer pair to us anonymously to help train the system; one Q&A, opt-in, no identity attached, and the only thing a human ever lays eyes on.

We're an honest indie shop, not a Fortune-500 with a compliance department. The right frame is "a small team using real, checkable encryption and not monetizing you."

If a company's privacy page can't tell you what ISN'T protected, be suspicious. We just did.

5) Why pay when I could download LM Studio + GPT-OSS-20B and run it free?

Honestly? If you've got a GPU that fits a 20B model (~12-16GB of VRAM), running GPT-OSS-20B in LM Studio is free, fully private, and great....and we won't insult you by pretending otherwise. We'll even walk you through it.
