How to reparent yourself to heal from #ADHD childhood #trauma, how to work with ADHD kids without traumatizing them->
🧵One of the most valuable threads of #adhdtwt that helps understand ADHD self
A message I want to share with adults who work with #ADHD kids is: pushing them the way that you push neurotypical kids harms them for life.
Here’s what I mean.
When I start working clinically with an adult who has ADHD, one of the first things we do /1
A lot of #OCD has to do with an overemphasis on #feelings rather than the #thoughts themselves. If the thoughts didn't make us feel bad, we would not be obsessing about their value!
The more we become comfortable with the feelings, the more relief we will experience.
@Mlnt_Girl@StructuredSucc Michelle, sending you energy vibes! You are a rockstar for pulling things off🔥 I hope you will soon have opportunity to rest and recharge 🔋
@StructuredSucc For me it is “Uhmmm” while exhaling - like my brain gonna get scared of getting no air and will surrender the answer😂🤣 I’ve told it sounds like AUM meditation with long inhale and than slow exhale with sound🧘♀️
#AskingAutistics Have your sensory issues got worse with age? There are a lot of things I can't tolerate at age 40 that I coped with in my 20s. Is this a natural part of ageing as an #autistic person?
@wishcandy@carla4444444@dustychipura So true! Sometimes I wonder what if I relocate to the time zone where my 12pm is there 7 am , how my life would be different?
@adhdrockstars My experience with hyper focus is mostly negative 🥺 I usually get into flow with the silliest or unimportant things, while forgetting food and everything. Day gone like it never happened, nothing done and then can’t sleep because of all the regret and self-blame.
@MokaMizore97@AutisticPhysio Making a list is amazing! I would love if people in my life do so. I always try to give something special or that person will really enjoy, but often it’s guessing and makes me anxious at the end 😬 Would so love to get a list💜
@DrAndrewV2 @AutisticPhysio Thank you so much for sharing and this kind reminder. Unfortunately, I am gift giver and it is my friend’s Birthday coming.. they also ask for no gifts, but it is so difficult for me🥺 Is there smth one can do to show love, make the day memorable in the way that it is not pushy?
@austinwithay I had have experience when lived in Amsterdam, it worsen my ADHD so much. Mind would speed up and jump from one thought in the middle of the other, so even myself could make no sense out of those, 0 concentration, and everything around felt unbarebly slow. Never again 😅
Our memory or even an absence of memory can alter past experiences, so it’s important to use Core Language to pinpoint the source of the trouble - “Didn't Start With You” by Mark Wolynn /4 #healing#inheritedtrauma#childhoodtrauma#Trauma
You can’t overcome your fears until you know specifically what they are. Find Core Complaint (phrase that describes your fear eg I am incapable) and Sentence (outcome if fear comes true eg I will not have income)
Then you can work on the link between fear and family’s #trauma /1
Sigmund Freud wrote about repetition compulsion, or when a person unconsciously tries to bring her suppressed trauma to the surface through repetitive behavior./3
