@AubertHeidi1 (2/2) My stance has softened since then. Like, I get it. Cats are irresistibly cute and make humans think irrationally. But for fuck’s sake, be responsible. You don’t let your cat wander unsupervised for the same reason that you wouldn’t let an animal-abusing toddler run amok.
@AubertHeidi1 I used to get into all sorts of online arguments with outdoor cat advocates who might as well have been nazi sympathizers in my eyes. Then I took in a stray cat who was cruelly abandoned by my neighbor & found indoor homes for 2 more. (1/2)
@triangleDAYS@NewYorker No. I’ll tell you why this doesn’t work. Firstly, desexed cats still kill wildlife. Secondly, having groups of well-fed cats living outside just encourages more idiots to dump them, negating any population decreases. Cute as they may be, cats do not belong outside. Period.
I hope I’m reincarnated as a bird. Not so much because I’ll be granted the gift of flight. But more so that I can shit on people without legal repercussions.
@skwinnicki I would honestly prefer an email like this over the usual novella of groveling that leads to begging.
“Dear Professor Rice,
I am so sorry to bother you, but I am very concerned about my grade in this class…I am a hard-working pre-med student… please show some compassion.”
@evornithology If I HAD to guess, birds are probably smart enough to not bathe when there's a serious risk of hypothermia. Hot springs would otherwise be death traps for them, and those have been around a lot longer than heated bird baths.
