XTOC 0.7.0 is out 🛫 a free, open-source Chrome extension that adds a table of contents to long X Articles, saves what you read to a local library, and exports your X bookmarks as Obsidian notes.
No account. No telemetry. Your data stays in your browser.
What's in it:
Read
– Table of contents for X Articles, built from the article's headings
– Pin it beside the article, move it, resize it, collapse it
– It follows your current section as you scroll
Save
– Select a passage and click "save to xtoc". It keeps the source and surrounding context
– Save the post or article you're reading from the toolbar
– Import your X bookmarks: open your Bookmarks page and click Import. XTOC scrolls and saves what loads. It only reads; your X bookmarks are never changed. Long posts are saved as the preview text X shows in the list
Export
– One Markdown note per post or article, in a ZIP: YAML properties, tags, and clips as quote callouts
– Drop the folder into your Obsidian vault. No plugin needed
– Clips can also be exported as JSON
Optional AI (off by default)
– Use your own API key to get up to 3 tags and a short summary for one bookmark
– Only that bookmark's text and your tag names are sent. Your notes are never sent
– Nothing changes until you click Apply
