i disagree, I shouldn't be penalized for doing sidequest by making the game trivial because the enemies didn't scale alongside my party.

I’m not a huge fan of forced anti grind mechanics in JRPGs. Ultimately, I think it should be left up to the player if they want to become super powerful or test themselves at low levels. Difficulty selections go a long way in this regard.
