Exactly, that’s where I’m at. For the last few years I’ve been waiting for the answer to a question that came to my mind one day: How does our government have such a special reverence for anyone who calls themselves a Jew without the thought even crossing their mind to at least attempt to verify where they’re getting that claim from?

I truly understand the issues with all the vitriol on SM platforms. I was just about to start with what sounded like a business responding to a service review: “Thank you for your honest & respectful reply!” 😂

You’re right that it’s important to ignore things from people whose only interest is to express hate and who have no interest in real conversation, but there’s a vast difference between comments that hit below the belt and intellectual criticism. Commentary that actually has —->context<—- creates opportunities for genuine truth-seekers to either receive information that leads them there and/or offer information that leads others there.

I feel like every healthy, 🧠 fully developed adult naturally understands what happens when we avoid, are spared from, or refuse to accept any type of critique. Our perception of reality becomes distorted, and we become disconnected from reality itself. Critique is not something we have any reason to block from ever crossing our path when we’re confident in what we believe and have the receipts to support it if it’s ever called for.

That’s why I’m curious how @hankrsmith comes to the point of feeling comfortable going as far as telling whoever he was addressing to mute what appears to be legitimate critique, not the vitriol we should all ignore.

I’m rereading your comment & thinking you may have misunderstood my logic.

1. I’ve never once, in all my years & experience of parenthood, left it up to my children (of that girl’s age) to handle the dreadful job of using a public restroom, all on their own, when the risk of Hepatitis B, MRSA, E.coli, & even Hep C, is very much real.
— Never have I, nor would I, ever leave it up to any stranger to effectively prevent my children from contracting any of those things.

2. We’re talking about a gas station ‘manager’, not cashier. Helping a parent in the way I’m suggesting falls under that specific role in that specific type of business. Just as she was the one available & fit for the job to respond to the old man freaking out about it—WITHOUT the store falling apart—she would’ve also been the one available & fit for the job standing *outside* of the bathroom while the girls went in with the only person there they can/should trust.

Hopefully that makes a little more sense for you.

Let’s say:
• She lives in Louisiana & it’s July/August.
• She has a heat allergy caused by an autoimmune disorder.
• She doesn’t have money or means to invest in 100% linen clothing that covers all of those tattoos.
• She had to walk to church that day & still has to walk home.
• She almost didn’t come to church because she couldn’t find anything else to wear that didn’t put her at risk of 2-3 weeks of hives all over her body, she can’t take antihistamines due to her epilepsy, & she doesn’t have money to go to the doctor for corticosteroid treatment.
• She decided to be brave & remember that she’s going because she loves & fears the Lord, not people.
• She’s sitting there struggling to hear the message over the of voices of all the people staring at her running through her head.

Is that idolatry?
