For those of you wondering why we shouldn't sacrifice our trees to "protect" trees in the outer suburbs, take a look.

“The pressure is on, but in a good way,” “This is a once-in-a-career opportunity for urban forestry, and how we use it is going to impact those who are in our positions 50 years from now.”

@_AFUT@asfvirginia Excellent rally! Thanks for identifying that Missing Middle Zoning will result in major loss of tress in Arlington. The "one tree per unit" policy proposal for multi-unit homes will results in fewer trees in almost all cases. #arlingtonva#MoreTreesPlease

Tomorrow is the last day for providing feedback on Arlington's CIP. Tell the County trees are infrastructure and you want resources dedicated to our trees.
Survey here: https://t.co/uZY9DsUv4T
ATAG's thoughts on the survey here: https://t.co/j7138DPIrZ
@TheGattoniCelli Trees plays an outsized role in protecting us from the worst effects of climate change. They absorb rainwater, prevent soil erosion, filter greenhouse gases, cool us, support/feed wildlife, and improve the quality of our health and lives.
We don't want trees in Arlington why?
Tell Arlington to Invest in Trees as Green Infrastructure!

Did you know a builder needs to provide only 20% of tree canopy for any single family home project even even if they clear the lot? 20% lot coverage is not sufficient to sustain Arlington's tree canopy. @ArlingtonVA this has to stop! #MoreTreesPlease

.@ArlTreeAction briefed the County Board Feb 12 about better enforcement of rules, and tweaks to the rules, that would save more trees during "by-right" construction, which is depleting the 61% of our tree canopy. https://t.co/snMKZEtJJC
We need a new canopy survey, we need higher canopy replacement rules for both single and multi-family areas, we need tweaks to zoning setbacks and lot coverage and stormwater rules. Weigh in with the County Board and your delegates in Richmond! #MoreTreesPlease

@ArlTreeAction will be speaking to the County Board, around 8:35 am tomorrow, Feb 12, to urge action to preserve more trees during residential construction projects. Construction and development are causing rapid loss of mature canopy. Come support ATAG and trees!
Come support ATAG at the County Board Meeting 8:30 AM on Saturday, Feb 12. Our topic: excessive tree on construction project sites county-wide. Stand with us and let the Board know there is broad support for change!
How do we know if there are enough trees in a neighborhood so everyone can experience the health, economic and climate benefits that trees provide? Our new nationwide #TreeEquity Score tool answers this question https://t.co/8aIghfQjyd
@arlparksrec Here's a thought for you: Have you looked at the health of the trees in central Arlington's park? A lot of trees are in decline. What are you doing to keep our park trees healthy? #ArlingtonVA#MoreTreesPlease
What to do instead? Among other things, keep existing forests healthy so they can continue to act as carbon sinks, removing carbon from the atmosphere through photosynthesis and storing it in trees and soils https://t.co/9Z87aX2fdW

Want to preserve Arlington's tree canopy? @VaDOT wants to "improve" turning lanes on Rt 50 and Filmore at a cost of 18 trees, 1.6 acres of permeable land, $29 million. @susmoarlington has suggested feedback: https://t.co/SkEb5Bys3Q Online comment form: https://t.co/ZHzPqi9Pf5
This project kills me, @VaDOTNOVA@VaDOT.
Turn lanes could be created using existing pavement NOW, saving 18 trees (heads up @ArlTreeAction), 1.6 acres of permeable land, $29M, and dozens of lives.
Not a smart project. Please rethink.
