Some solid biblical truth to help start 2026 on the right path:

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1

And,

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… All things were made through Him.” John 1:1–3

That Word is Jesus, who “became flesh and dwelt among us.” John 1:14

We are not here by accident or by happenstance. Each one of us was intentionally created by a loving and holy God:

“You formed my inward parts; You knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” Psalm 139:13

God didn’t just create us — He created us with purpose:

“For I know the plans I have for you… plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

The devil’s goal is to steal, kill, and destroy. But Jesus said:

“I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10

Jesus also came to restore what we lost and could never repair on our own (Luke 19:10).

In God’s sovereignty, He created us with volition — the ability to choose. His nature desires love freely given and He forces Himself on no one.

Because of that choice, mankind sinned.
And sin separated us from a holy and righteous God.

But thankfully:

“God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”John 3:16

God is patient,

“not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9

And God is not far off:

“You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13

“Call to Me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” Jeremiah 33:3

“Yet He is actually not far from each one of us.” Acts 17:27

“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:13

God is eternal.
God is unchanging.
God is love. (1 John 4:8)

God is full of grace and truth — and in Him, and in Him alone, we find true life: abundant life, filled with joy, purpose, peace, hope, and everlasting fulfillment.

The same God who created us, is the God inviting us to the abundant life in Christ today.

So we can begin 2026 with great confidence, knowing where we came from, why we are here, and Who holds our future.

“Who has ascended to heaven and come down?
Who has gathered the wind in His fists?
Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is His name, and what is His Son’s name?
Surely you know!”

Proverbs 30:4

What an astounding verse!

Written roughly 700–1,000 years before Christ’s birth, Proverbs 30:4 asks questions that point us directly to the Creator and to His Son Jesus.

Who has ascended to heaven and come down?
Who controls the wind?
Who has gathered the waters?
Who established all the ends of the earth?

The answer to the first four questions is God.

But then comes the question that should make you stop:

“What is His name, and what is His son’s name?”

The Old Testament was pointing us toward the truth that God has a Son. And in the New Testament, the answer is made clear:

His name is Jesus Christ.

Jesus was not merely a great teacher, merely a prophet, or simply a religious figure. Jesus is the eternal Son of God who came down from heaven, took on flesh, and became the Savior of the world.

Jesus Himself said:

“No one has ascended into heaven except He who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.” John 3:13

The Creator came down to His creation.

The question posed in Proverbs is still the most important question anyone can answer:

What is His name?
And what is His Son’s name?

His name is Yahweh.
His Son’s name is Jesus.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1

Jesus is the Son of God who the Bible calls the Word, and Jesus makes God’s thoughts known to man through His words.

A word is an expression of an invisible thought. We can’t hear God’s thoughts, but we CAN hear His words.

John 1:14
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

John 1:1
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

John 1:2
“He was in the beginning with God.”

John 1:3
“All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being.”

John 1:4
“In Him was life, and the life was the Light of mankind.”

John 1:5
“And the Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not grasp it.”

The Old Testament says “They do not know, nor do they understand, for He has smeared over their eyes so that they cannot see and their hearts so that they cannot comprehend.” Isaiah 44:18

The New Testament tells us that the
Word of God is only good to a man whose eyes are opened & enlightened by the Spirit of God.

You must first repent of your sins and believe in Jesus, then God will remove the veil that covers your mind from the gospel of Christ. (2 Corinthians 3:14-16; 2 Peter 3:16)

There is salvation in no one else.
Acts 4:12

Sunday Praise & Blessing

We have no right to be in His presence, but by His grace, we have been granted access!

Not because of who we are or what we have done, but because of who He is and what Christ has done for us.

We have peace with God—not because we earned it, but because we have been justified by faith through our Lord Jesus Christ.

And through Him, we have obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand.

What an incredible blessing—to stand in the presence of a holy God, justified, forgiven, and accepted by grace through faith in Christ alone.

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand.” Romans 5:1–2

God’s salvation is available to people of all nations and of all races.

But Scripture reveals that this salvation is only obtained through ONE means — by God’s grace, through faith alone. A simple, yet timeless message.

This fact was made known in the Old Testament and then reiterated and solidified in the New Testament.

The prophet Joel declared:

“Everyone who calls on the name of Yahweh shall be saved.” Joel 2:32

Centuries later, the apostle Paul stated:

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” Romans 10:9–10

Paul made it known that:

“There is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing His riches on all who call on Him.” Romans 10:12

Paul then quoted Joel 2:32, making this great theological connection by proclaiming that Yahweh, whom Joel said people must call upon for salvation, is Jesus Christ:

“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

Paul, declaring this fact up to nine centuries after Joel, preached that this promise is still standing.

God’s way to salvation is available to everyone who calls upon the Lord.

Jesus said that it is the Scriptures that testify about Him:

“You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me.” John 5:39

Scripture has the power to convert the soul because it is God’s living and life-giving Word. It is through the Word that God reveals Christ and brings sinners to saving faith.

“A sower went out to sow his seed… The seed is the word of God.” Luke 8:5–11

The Word itself possesses God’s life-giving power. When it falls on good soil (hearts prepared by God) it takes root, bears fruit, and results in salvation (Luke 8:15).

“The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul.” Psalm 19:7

This Memorial Day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we enjoy. Their sacrifice reminds us of the greatest love, laying down one’s life for others.

I love the blessings outlined in Psalm 91, which God gives to those who truly know and love Him, blessings that are rooted in a deep love and steadfast attachment to God through faith in Jesus.

“Because he holds fast to Me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows My name. When he calls to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16

While God doesn’t promise us an absence of trouble (“I will be with him in trouble”), He does promise us that we will have His presence in our troubles.

This promise of God’s presence, protection, and “ultimate” deliverance is for those who truly know and love Him.

Reflections:

1. Do you hold fast to God, or only turn to Him when things go wrong?
2. Do you truly know God, His character and holiness, or just know about God?
3. Is your prayer life reactionary, or genuinely relational?

God’s promises are tied to that kind of life.
