NWZAW (April 20β24) is an annual spring campaign that marks the start of construction season and reminds drivers to stay alert and slow down in highway work zones. Every driver plays a role in keeping workers and themselves safe.
Do your part: slow down, stay focused, and move over when approaching work zones.

It's wild to see how work zone setups are different in each state. Here in IL we do 3 mile, 1 mile, 1/2 mile, merge for lane closures (as well as 55 speed ahead, 55 speed, indicator). Ms, TN, FL, AL are just like.. lane closed 1000 feet, bam arrow board and barrel taper. π€£
Zipper merge doesn't always work and heres why!
Just had about 10+ semis wait until the taper of a work zone to merge into the open lane. Traffic was at a stand still for 9+ minutes. Semis YOU are the problem. If you have a mile of slow moving traffic and signs saying your lane is closed ahead, MERGE! Not last minute, as soon as you are able to.
You waiting until the taper to do your silly zipper merge doesn't work when you're constantly stopping other semis who already merged. Must be them truckers that can't read English.
@BadgerStew You'd think that but just recently in Springfield IL a truck wrecked carrying fly ash and it was complete blackout. A mom and daughter drove into it and crashed into the truck killing the mom.
@niccruzpatane Lots of people ignore the signs in construction zones. This happens more often than you think. How this person missed the huge opening for the right hand turn, who knows. You put cones on a road and people pretend like they don't know how to drive anymore.
