“Nowhere is safe in Gaza and nowhere will be safe until this humanitarian pause is turned into a lasting ceasefire.”
UNICEF spokesperson, @1james_elder, from Gaza.
Our teams on the ground are doing everything they can to deliver life-saving supplies. UNICEF continues to call for a humanitarian ceasefire and protection of aid workers—and the children and families they serve.
COP28 opens tomorrow with a resounding call to accelerate global climate action.
As the climate crisis worsens around the world, #COP28 must be a decisive moment to act on climate commitments and limit global warming to 1.5°C.
🗓️ HAPPENING NOW: The 7th African Women in Media conference themed Media & Gender Violence. It’s great to witness the alignment on investing in ending violence against women and girls as media takes center stage towards forging this path #AWiM2023#GenderEquality#NoExcuse
Every minute, a life is lost to AIDS.
This is not fate.
I believe we can change this.
To succeed, we must let communities on the frontlines of the AIDS pandemic lead the way.
Sharing my #WorldAIDSDay message: #LetCommunitiesLead!
Civilians – including @UN personnel – must be protected.
Civilian objects – including hospitals – must be protected.
UN facilities must not be hit.
International humanitarian law must be respected at all times.
As #COP28 begins, Graça Machel and Ban Ki-moon call on leaders to fulfil their unmet commitments to people and planet:
"Humanity is at a crucial juncture; we must not squander this chance to get back on track".

Excited that our Journey for Change scholars are reading @ClintSmithIII “How the Word is Passed: A Reckoning with the History of Slavery Across America!” As South African youth, they will gain a rich understanding of U.S. history & similarities w/their past as well. @ARProjectSA
My young sister Azaliah & I were brave enough to host our first gender themed UNGA side event in New York. Diplomats from 3 countries including a time generous @USAmbUN + @UNLesotho shared. We recognized the work of @ARProject in South Africa 2. It's the result of educating girls
Women & girls everywhere deserve to live with dignity & respect.
We will never give up fighting to ensure their fundamental human rights are upheld everywhere.
Climate change is not just a change in the weather.
It is changing life on our planet.
It is killing people and devastating communities.
To limit global temperature rise, we must phase out coal, oil & gas in a fair & equitable way – and massively boost renewables. #UNGA
Thrilled to receive an award from @ZurielOduwole and her DUSUSU org. Zuriel advocates for education equity & gender equality for girls worldwide. It was also lovely that U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations @USAmbUN spoke about these issues and interacted w/youth from @GirlUp!
.@Banyana_Banyana have done it! What a performance. This is a historic moment for South African football. This is a historic moment for women sport in the country. Round of 16, here we come. #FIFAWWC
There's been much gaslighting & moderate justifying of the new Florida social studies standards, people stating the "clarifications" were designed to show Black resilience, or were just "facts." So, I thought I'd compare the African-American history standards to the Holocaust's.
My org, the Angelrock Project South Africa, held our 5th annual community soccer match for 800 youth from the informal settlement of Diepsloot in honor of Mandela Day! There was food, music & fun & we amplified gender equality for all & an end to GBV! @ARProjectSA#mandeladay 🇿🇦
Thrilled to have hosted my first fundraiser in Johannesburg, South Africa! The fantastic event supported our Journey for Change Scholars for Girls holistic and integrated educational program for vulnerable girls! @ARProjectSA
Be well @jacindaardern
You inspired & led well.
In Your parting words:
“you can be kind, but strong, empathetic but decisive, optimistic but focused. And that you can be your own kind of leader – one who knows when it’s time to go”
You set the bar high for all leaders!
