A small memory, but a lasting one:
After Bulls won their 3rd championship and had the rally in Grant Park, Bill Cartwright had lost his voice and couldn't address the crowd. Stacey King stood up and said he could handle it.
And in Cartwright's distinctive gravelly voice, Stacey yelled, "Whoomp, there it is!"
The crowd went nuts. Stacey loved life. Just brutally sad.
Stacey King brought so much excitement into our homes as an announcer for the Bulls. All of his catchphrases and nicknames could never be replicated again.
I speak for all Bulls fans when I say that he’s going to be deeply missed.
💔😢💔😢
Stacey King elevated Bulls games on his own. No matter how good or bad the team was, he took them to another level. And he was always so kind to the fans.
To me, he was the best part of the Bulls organization. We were so fortunate to watch him for the last 20 years. What a loss.
Stacey King was the best in the game.
He called games the way they should be called. Brought endless energy and enthusiasm. The Bulls have given fans plenty of tough years, but King always brought the entertainment and gave people a reason to listen.
Such a devastating loss.
Tragic news.
Stacey was a champion & an awesome person.
I first met him when I worked at Athletes Foot in Northbrook Court. So kind.
He once spent an hour w/ me diagramming Tex Winter’s triangle.
He was the ULTIMATE vibes analyst. He loved the #Bulls & their fans. Heart breaking
