Hot take incoming (not really), artists enjoy making characters that look cute or hot. The intention is not always "goonerbait" or "tHe MAle gAzE", it's just artists making art they enjoy making.
I'm sorry but creating attractive characters is just more enjoyable. Sometimes artists just wanna make a character look cute, hot, or cool because it’s fun. That’s it, it ain't that deep.

I really feel like Nintendo is trying their hardest to give each of their series very distinct art styles from one another and it’s resulting in levels of experimentation that I love to see. These designs are awesome.

@Cybrid101 Great! But, they would be AMAZING if they showed a bit more *expression*. Trailer made them very stiff - probably because of that face-tracking tech.

@Wario64 These designs are the PERFECT evolution of the puppet designs fans loved from the SNES boxart.

The only problem they have is a lack of *expression*. Make those characters emote!

I applaud Nintendo for willing to experiment with their art style again at least!
