I guess we can all remember going to the Circus as a child though they have changed over the years.

Your work could be inspired by a the life of our late Queen Elizabeth II or our new King Charles III. 1/3

Perhaps you could paint your favourite Royal residence,such as Balmoral or Windsor Castle. Or may be the Crown Jewels or even some Corgis. This is a massive subject that can be interpreted in so many ways. Use any medium you wish. 2/3

This week’s subject is Self Portrait from a photograph

We are very lucky to have a Professional Photographer in the Club, Paul. Who patiently led a session in October where he photographed fellow members portraits. Copies have been produced in Colour, Sepia and Black and White

We are going to use these photographs to help us do a self portrait. Members that didn’t have a portrait done can either try taking a selfie or get someone to take your photo at home.

If this isn’t possible then you can use a decent sized mirror, and draw your reflection. 2/3

As a subject for art, we can look at snowy landscapes or perhaps snow related activities like sledging, tobogganing or even snow man building. ❄️⛄️🏂

Happy New Year Everyone

This week the subject is Snow

Snow is comprised of individual ice crystals that grow while suspended in the atmosphere, usually within clouds. Atmospheric conditions affect how snow crystals form and what happens to them as they fall to the ground. 1/3

Snow may fall as symmetrical, six-sided snowflakes, or it may fall as larger clumps of flakes.

If the ground temperature is at or below freezing, the snow will reach the ground and lay. The wind can cause the snow to form drifts. 2/3

We have come to the end of this year’s planned programme here at Garforth Art Club but we are not sad or upset as tonight is our Christmas party.

We are able to get together for our normal buffet, Christine’s Christmas quiz and presents. 1/2

Use contrasting shapes, surfaces and textures Remember it doesn’t have to be all white either, as there is still a lot of greenery in winter. You could even use more colour looking at sledging, snowmen and winter fun. Use your imagination. 3/3

The winter season brings a variety of adverse weather extremes. Heavy snow, ice, freezing temperatures and wind chill. But we can have bright sunny days too. 1/3

The subject is “Fold/s” was chosen by the previous winner Tina.

The dictionary description, “to bend something, especially paper or cloth, so that one part of it lies on the other part, or to be able to be bent in this way.”
