The laws are clearly stated in our Constitution. Principle XXVI on Accountability is clear: “All public offices shall be held in trust for the people.”
All persons placed in positions of leadership and responsibility must be answerable to the people.
The Constitution also requires that all lawful measures be taken to expose, combat and eradicate corruption and abuse of office.
We are taking lawful measures. No one is being condemned without due process. Let the investigations be conducted, let the evidence be examined, and let the law take its course.
If necessary, those under investigation should step aside to allow impartial investigations. We are using forensic auditors, auditors and other experts to examine the records and establish the facts.

Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu. Greetings.
I want to use this occasion to thank God that has protected and enabled Uganda to address its numerous problems. I thank God for blessing the NRM for the last 60 years plus, starting with it’s precursors.
Now, God has blessed me with one of my grandchildren, Ruhamya, joining my big family of UPDF, having graduated, with his colleague, Bakyira, from Sandhurst recently. Congratulations Ruhamya, congratulations Bakyira.
Young Ugandans, Army service gives you good foundation. I congratulate the parents of the two young officers.
