BREAKING: Kennedy Niece Maria Shriver:
"The Kennedy Center was named after my uncle, President John F. Kennedy. It was named in his honor. He was a man who was interested in the arts, interested in culture, interested in education, language, history. He brought the arts into the White House, and he and my Aunt Jackie amplified the arts, celebrated the arts, stood up for the arts and artists.
It is beyond comprehension that this sitting president has sought to rename this great memorial dedicated to President Kennedy. It is beyond wild that he would think adding his name in front of President Kennedy’s name is acceptable. It is not."
In North Carolina, Democrats won the majority of the vote but lost the state House and Senate overwhelmingly.
Republicans gerrymander because they know they cannot win fairly.
The pathetic legislative leaders of North Carolina haven’t even passed a budget.
And what are they busy doing? Rigging the next election for Trump.
Their priorities are clear — bend the knee to Trump, screw over North Carolina.
Remember that.
We can’t lose focus on what matters – right now, Republicans in Texas are trying to gerrymander district lines to unfairly win five seats in next year’s midterm elections. This is a power grab that undermines our democracy.
One final piece for @BeltBorder that encapsulates a lot of what makes the region special: trials of rural communities, resilience in the face of hardship and a deep desire to see opportunity amid the struggle. (W/ @GretzingerErin)

NC utilities nerds: Today Duke Energy Carolinas and DE Progress filed a notice of intent to merge. This has been planned for a while to make rates more equitable between territories: DE Carolinas customers currently pay less per kWh on avg than DE Progress
I'm Roy Cooper and I grew up here in Nash County. My mom was a public-school teacher, my dad a small-town lawyer and farmer. It’s where I started my family and my law practice that helped everyday people and small businesses.
I will work hard for you as your next U.S.Senator.
